Perhaps you have seen the object lesson where a glass of water gets bumped. If the water is dirty…dirty water sloshes out. If the water is crystal clear…clear water sloshes out. It illustrates what happens when we get bumped by life. I had lunch with a friend recently. During our conversation she referenced a beautiful time in her life when she was able to serve her grandmother through the illness Alzheimer s. Interestingly enough her grandmother penned the most beautiful expression as a result of this diagnosis. At the most devastating time in her life…this is what sloshed out.
My Personal Rainbow
Lord right now
I struggle with clutching fear
Waves of agony pour over me
And I face the darkest moments
In my life’s history
But my convictions still hold firm
You are my God!
And though I cannot predict my future
Or even tomorrow
I am sustained by the reminder
That the longest storm
The world has ever known
And the worst
Came to an end one clear sky morning
It was true for Noah
It will be true for me
Though as yet I see no deliverance
I watch
I wait
I expect
My personal rainbow.
Ahhhh… beautiful sloshed water, wonderful squeezed tube of toothpaste, gorgeous shaken tree. I got this from another friend of ours – that there are five purposes for shaking an object:
1. To bring it closer to its foundation
2. To remove what is dead
3. To harvest what is ripe
4. To awaken
5. To unify or mix together
Thanks for sharing that poem.
Love,
Pat
